A list of writing websites that I don't like
There are a few writing websites that I don't like. The reasons why vary, some do not pay enough for your time, some simply do not pay at all and expect you to write for free, some are too strict and others are simply scams that will never payout. Writing online is very time consuming and I hope this list will assist you in at least not wasting your time with websites that will not pay you what you deserve to get for your energy, time and effort you put in.
When I look for a good website to write for I look for a website that is user friendly, I also like a site that is flexible and not overly strict plus a nice and supportive community is always a plus. The writing site should offer you a fair pay rate or CPM / PPM as the writing sites call it. CPM means price per thousand page views "PPM" and "index" mean the same thing. The best case scenario is that you would make a penny per page view, that means the CPM is $10.00. I make this much with the Examiner but the articles must be current and they have a short shelf life. Other sites like Bukisa have a $3.22 CPM which is okay because your article will earn views forever as opposed to only one week. They will also allow you to copy/paste your article to other sites like AC (Associated Content) whose CPM is $1.50. I don't always enjoy writing about current events, I like to write product reviews and tutorials too. That is where the other websites come in handy since they will take my news articles in addition to my articles where I write about whatever I choose to write about. Here are some writing websites that I have tried but unfortunately they did not meet my expectations. Not all of the sites are horrible which is why I wrote an explanation next to each one.

Stay away from these sites
Demand Studios - Very strict
Triond - Does not pay enough and wants to own the rights to your work.
Helium - Pay is too low and the site is somewhat confusing for beginners.
Text Broker - The assignments are not interesting and they can be strict at times.
MyLot - Does not pay enough but is a good place to meet people and get referrals.
Dooyoo - Great site but does not pay through Paypal to the US.
CiaoUK - Awesome site but does not pay through Paypal to the US anymore.
Reviewstream - Shady looking website, I just don't trust it. I have had some issues with them.
Constant Content - Super strict and demands perfection. If you write for fun you are not going to like a strict site.
Epinions - It is almost impossible to earn there due to existing members voting your work as not helpful. They are bullies.
Ebay - Does not pay for reviews.
Amazon - Does not pay for reviews.
Ehow - The company either merged or sold to Demand Studios so Ehow is no more.
Gather - Does not pay enough in my opinion but it is a nice community to belong to.
Shared Reviews - They want original work and once you post there they own the review.
